CMEA Regionals/All State

CMEA Southern Region and All State Festivals

CMEA Southern Region and All State Festivals offer all students the chance to demonstrate individual ability in the form of an audition. Successful auditions will allow students to participate in festival ensembles, where students from the area come together to rehearse and perform in a concert for the community.

Students who are interested in performing in the Southern Region and All State Festival ensembles will need to register to audition. Only students who are accepted and participate in the Southern Region Festival may audition in the All State Festival.

Auditions for the CMEA Southern Region Ensembles will take place in person at Foran HS in Milford. See "Music Department Events" for audition and festival dates, times, and locations.
Repertoire can be found in "24 Italian Songs and Arias." Mrs. Iadarola has copies to loan. Students may also purchase their own copies through Sam Ash, The Foundry, Amazon, or other retailers. Sopranos and Tenors must use the "medium-high" book. Altos and Basses must use the "medium-low" book.
Soprano/Tenor - Caro Mio Ben
Alto/Bass - Sebben Crudele

Auditions are solo performances with recorded piano accompaniment.

In addition to solo performances, students will be asked to sing two scales and to sight read a brief excerpt.
Repertoire can be found through cpdl.org, jwpepper.org, The Foundry, or other sources. Mrs. Iadarola has copies to loan.
  • SATB - Gloria (from "Harmoniemesse") - Haydn
Auditions are solo performances with "music minus one" and piano recorded accompaniment.

The same scales are required for both Regional and All State auditions. Sight reading is typically expected, and is traditionally more challenging at the All State audition than at Regionals.
