Course Info

Concert Band is an L2 class that meets once every two days.  This course is open to any student who has prior experience on a band instrument.  This group performs at football games and at other times throughout the year.  Our focus is to perform a diverse selection of music, with our focus being on ensemble skill building as well as further developing individual technique on instruments.

Jazz I is a L3 class that meets every other day throughout the school year.  This ensemble performs a variety of advanced jazz charts, and enrollment is by teacher selection.  
This ensemble performs with the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band, and has many performances throughout the school year. 
Wind Ensemble is a full year L3 course, and enrollment is at the discretion of the teacher.  Students will perform a wide range of music, featuring cornerstone literature, contemporary works, and other selections.  This ensemble also performs with the concert band, and has many performances throughout the school year. 
Jazz II is a before school ensemble that is open to any student who plays saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, bass, piano or drums.  This ensemble offers students a great way to learn about how to play jazz, work on a secondary instrument, or just get a chance to play!  
Guitar Lab is a L2 semester long class that offers students the opportunity to learn how to play the guitar.  There are no prerequisites for this class.
Students will learn how to:
  • read music, chords, and tabs
  • string and tune a guitar
  • learn melodic playing as well as basic chord progressions. 
Guitar 2 is an L2 semester long class that offers students the opportunity to build on the skills learned in Guitar Lab.  Prerequisite for this course are Guitar Lab or teacher recommendation. 
Students will learn how to:
 - play more advanced songs 
 - play both pentatonic and major scale patterns
 - build a bassline
 - work on barre chords
 - get comfortable across the neck of the guitar as well as working across all six strings 
 - develop practice techniques for a variety of musical styles and genres
