Welcome to Biology with Dr. Ball-Goodrich
I'm looking forward to a great year in Biology! I teach Honors (L3) Biology and Advanced Placement Biology. Before becoming certified in Biology and Chemistry, I was a scientist working in the field of molecular virology. As a result, I bring real-world experience to the content of Biology.

Course Description
This course serves as an introduction to the life sciences. The interactions between the biosphere and the rest of Earth’s systems influence us every day from the food that we eat to the air that we breathe. We will identify, explain, and ask questions about patterns we see in nature. Some of these mechanisms occur in the blink of an eye, while others take millions of years to unfold. Despite the extreme spans in scale, we will use evidence, evaluate claims, and develop models to interpret the unseen. Each unit will examine different phenomena to enhance our understanding of core ideas in biological science and earth science.
Here is the course outline:
AP Biology:
Advanced Placement Biology is a challenging, college-level class that covers fundamental principles in Biology. Students will learn and apply key concepts in biochemistry, cell structure and function, cell communication and cell cycle, cellular energetics including enzymes, metabolism, and photosynthesis, meiosis and heredity, gene expression and regulation, natural selection, and ecology. Most units include specific laboratories to reinforce and apply concepts.
