I was born into a military family, so we moved a lot. I've lived all over this country, as well as on another continent. I've been living in North Haven for over 20 years, though, and I'm the proud parent of a North Haven High School graduate and future teacher.
I didn't love to read until I found my own reasons to do so, and I love being able to pay that experience forward to students who, perhaps, have not yet found their passion for human story-telling and effective communication in their own voice.
- I graduated from Xavier High School in 1992.
- I graduated from what was then Quinnipiac College with a Bachelor's degree in English in 1996.
- I graduated from Quinnipiac University with a Master's in Teaching in 2001, my second full year of teaching and my first year as a North Haven educator.
I have been teaching or otherwise involved in public education since August of 1999. My first experience of being an educator was as an intern at the old North Haven High School, where I was enlisted as a long-term sub before I'd taken a single grad school class. The following academic year I taught English at Hamden High School, as I also completed my second year of grad school. I have taught at North Haven High School ever since.
I use an eBoard which can be found here:
http://dobrien.eboard.com.
Expect all necessary materials to be posted on our Google Classroom, though.
9th grade English, Humanities English 10L4, Science Fiction 12L2/L3, Short Fiction 12L2/L3, Secrets and Lies 12L2/3, and Shakespeare 12L2/L3 are my standard course offerings.
Left to my own devices, I love nothing more than reading a book or catching up on some science fiction media or puttering around in my workshop/garage. :)
